Mobility Management (MM) is a concept to promote sustainable transport and reduce the demand for car use by changing travellers’ attitudes and behaviour. At the core of MM are “soft” measures like information and communication, incentives, organising services and coordinating activities of different partners, involving many different stakeholders, although a coordination role is often taken by public authorities. Infrastructure investments are not considered MM.
MM is put into effect through Mobility Management Plans (MMPs) the strategic objectives and policies that result in the development of Mobility Management Schemes (MMS), a package of MM measures. These MMS and MMP are tailored to different users and organisations and usually target specific sites such as major entertainment or sport events, large employers, universities, hospitals, shopping centres/retail areas, tourist destinations, primary and secondary schools, and new housing areas.
In recent years, many cities have introduced various mobility measures that may affect how people travel in their daily lives. As part of Shift2Sustain activities, the project has launched a survey to better understand which mobility measures have been implemented and had a strong impact on a shift towards sustainable transport modes. The survey also explores which mobility measures have been implemented in cities over the past five years and how they are perceived by users and stakeholders. This survey invites you to share which measures you recall being implemented by your organisation over the past five years and whether they influenced population travel choices.
Participate and share your experience! Your answers will help us to identify barriers and success factor, that can be transferable to other sites.
